A
video loop of moving image of water is projected onto the rock.
The
translucent screen is hung 7 feet above the floor stretching
across the entire room. It creates a low “ceiling” just higher
than the average height of a person. The low ceiling (screen)
is a metaphor for the universe. Viewers are invited to walk
into the room and feel the close proximity between the “cosmos”
above and “earth” (floor) below. The experience alludes to the
Daoist idea of constant transformation of all things that every
being is an integral part of the universe, including humans.
The installation is a metaphor for the Daoist Oneness, the interdependency
and mutual inclusiveness of humanity, universe and earth.
